Step Back Foot Fungus!

Over 40 million Americans suffer from foot fungus of various degrees; namely athlete's foot (also known as tinea pedis). Athlete's foot is most commonly caused by the fungus name Trichophyton. This doesn't only affect your feet. Fungus can thrive anywhere on your body that is irritated, most, and warm. This includes your scalp, groin, arms and legs, and trunk. Gross right? The worst part is that you may acquire the fungus unsuspectingly from pools, showers (don't forget about community showers), locker rooms, and the floor in a gymnasium. Even socks can induce fungus.

There are three common types to watch out for:

1. "Interdigital," which affects the skin between your toes

2. "Moccasin," which affects the soles of your feet

3. Inflammatory blistering

Avoiding foot fungus (and any bacterial growth for that matter) is very easy.

Buy, and wear, any shoes with a breathable or perforated material. Also, cotton sock will help wick away moisture from your feet.

The less expensive, and eco-friendly, way to deter fungus growth is to use a chemical free soap nut powder as a scrubbing soap or the 18x EXTREME Concentrate as a green cleaning product. Both of these options are highly effective. Soap nuts are naturally hypoallergenic and antifungal to help accommodate your needs.

We provide easy to follow instructions on how to make soap nut powder at soap-nutstore.com. You can either view them via the website, print them off, or save them as a .pdf file for later reference.

The soap nut powder removes stains in showers, sinks, toilets, and bathtubs when you use a scrubber to clean. I'm assuming you won't be standing in a toilet or a sink, so the best place to fight fungus is the bathtub/shower. If you are in college and have suite mates who share a shower with you, then "detoxing" your shower of your roommates [nasty] body oils will be very beneficial. If the shower doesn't drain well, excess sweat and other toxins can be trapped on the floor of the shower. I bet you haven't even thought of that. What about the walls? I bet those haven't been scrubbed lately either!

If you happen to be rooming on a floor in the dorms that has a community bathroom then scrubbing the floors and walls won't be very feasible. Instead, bring your soap nut concentrate to the shower with you and mix it in to make your own soap nut shampoo and/or soap nut body wash.
